| ROLL ON/ROLL OFF (Ro/Ro) services are available for all rolling cargo, i.e. passenger vehicles, medical transport vans, construction equipment, semi trailers, tractors, boats on trailers. This service offers ships exclusively equipped to handle rolling cargo only and areas of service include most base ocean freight ports worldwide. The only items allowed inside the vehicle, if not built-in, when shipping using roll on/roll off rates are a spare tire and a jack. Any and all items loaded in vehicles using this method of shipment (excluding spare tire and jack) may be confiscated by customs and are not insurable. Vehicles less than 10 years old may be insured loss/theft only or all-risk. Vehicles over 10 years old may be insured total loss/theft only. Antique vehicles may be insured all-risk only when preinspected by insurance surveyor at request of shipper. Antique cars should be shipped in full containers whenever possible for added security (see below). |

CONTAINERIZED VEHICLES - High value automobiles (new and antique) should be shipped in 20’ steel ocean freight containers for added protection. Shippers wishing to ship vehicles to inland points worldwide (i.e. beyond entry ports) may also choose to ship vehicles in full containers. Containerized shipments generally double (or more) total shipping costs. The advantage to shipping vehicles in containers is that you may load up the vehicle with boxed personal effects at no additional shipping charge. Shippers may do their own loading of full containers but must stay in close touch with our advisors to make sure all international protocol is carefully adhered to and documents are issued by loader stating same. THE SHIPPING ADVISOR does offer professional loading of vehicles into containers at our ocean freight terminals across the USA. PROFESSIONAL INLAND TRUCKING (WITHIN USA) is available to/from all points in the USA, when required. |
